Diaboliad and other stories
"The days got unbearably hot. One could clearly see the dense transparent heat shimmering over the fields. But the nights were marvelous, deceptive, green. The moon shone brightly, casting such beauty on the former Sheremetiev estate that it is impossible to express it in words."
Mikhail Bulgakov's short story collection Diaboliad And Other Stories (paperback by Vintage Books) is comprised of five stories ranging from science fiction and fantasy to satire and parody. My favourite ones were the "Fatal Eggs" and "The Adventures Of Chichikov".
